The social media space is currently in a frenzy as reports emerge about the acclaimed Afrobeats sensation, Asake, allegedly leaving the YBNL Nation record label and parting ways with its founder and music mogul, Olamide.
This speculation gained traction after fans noticed significant changes on Asake’s Instagram profile. The singer not only unfollowed Olamide but also removed all mentions of YBNL from his bio, further intensifying the rumors when he deleted all his Instagram posts.
Adding to the narrative, a popular entertainment blogger, Cutie Juls, revealed that Asake’s initial contract with YBNL recently expired. Reports suggest that Olamide presented Asake with a new contract, but the singer allegedly declined to renew it.
According to insiders, Olamide reportedly made multiple efforts to convince Asake to sign the new deal, but his attempts proved futile. Despite the music mogul’s persistence, Asake is said to have walked away from the negotiations altogether.
Cutie Juls wrote, “Asake has officially left YBNL and has decided to part ways with Olamide. Insiders revealed that Asake’s initial contract with YBNL came to an end, and Olamide, in good faith, offered him a renewal. However, Asake firmly declined to sign.”
“Olamide went above and beyond to renew Asake’s contract and keep him on the label, but it seems the singer has chosen a different path.”
“The tipping point reportedly occurred two weeks ago when Asake decisively walked out of the negotiation process, opting to establish himself as an independent artist.”
“As things stand, Olamide is believed to be scouting for new talents to sign to YBNL.”
The blogger, however, left room for optimism, stating, “Hopefully, both parties will be able to reconcile, and Asake might decide to remain with YBNL in the future.”
It’s important to note that Asake joined YBNL in 2022 and rapidly rose to fame following the release of his chart-topping single ‘Sungba’. The track catapulted him into stardom, helping him achieve monumental milestones, including selling out the O2 Arena in London twice.
Despite the current uncertainties surrounding Asake’s career trajectory, fans remain eager to see what lies ahead for the artist and his future projects.
