The Founder and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has finally addressed the recent public apology issued by popular Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar, following their long-standing feud.
In his response, Apostle Suleman shared his thoughts on the situation through his X handle (formerly Twitter), where he stated that while forgiveness has been extended, it should not be confused with memory loss.
In the viral post, Suleman made it clear to the public and Halima Abubakar’s supporters that he prefers to maintain his peace, writing, “You all stop calling my phone. Forgiveness is not memory loss! Status quo maintained!”
This statement comes after Halima Abubakar publicly apologized for her role in defaming Apostle Suleman’s character. She admitted to spreading false accusations and making damaging remarks about the Apostle that resulted in significant harm to his reputation.
The dispute between the two started back in 2022 when Abubakar made several accusations against Suleman, leading to a public back-and-forth that garnered significant media attention. Abubakar’s initial claims were centered on allegations that involved both personal and professional misconduct, which ultimately led to a protracted public controversy.
In addition to her apology, Halima Abubakar is also currently embroiled in a legal battle with Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). The actress has filed a lawsuit demanding N30 billion in damages, following a series of defamatory statements that she claims were made by Rollas against her.
The legal action was taken after Rollas made statements that Abubakar believes were harmful to her reputation and career in the entertainment industry. In the lawsuit, the Nollywood star asserts that these remarks have caused her not only financial loss but also significant emotional distress.
Abubakar is seeking compensation for both the material and non-material damages she has incurred, as well as the negative impact these statements have had on her professional opportunities within the film industry.
The ongoing lawsuit stems from an incident that took place on October 17, 2024, when the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), led by Rollas, announced Abubakar’s indefinite suspension from the guild. The suspension was publicly declared through Rollas’ social media handle, which cited the actress’s involvement in spreading defamatory information about other prominent members of the guild.
More specifically, Abubakar has been accused of circulating rumors concerning extramarital affairs involving well-known figures within Nigeria’s entertainment industry. These rumors allegedly implicated various celebrities and have caused widespread controversy in the media.
