Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar [/b]has faced suspension from the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) due to serious allegations of professional misconduct. This action follows a thorough investigation that lasted two years, aimed at uncovering her purported involvement in slandering the Nollywood industry.
The AGN released a statement detailing that Abubakar had been accused of disseminating damaging false information regarding fellow actors, industry associates, and other influential figures. This includes severe allegations suggesting her involvement in extramarital affairs with prominent individuals within the community.
According to the AGN’s Special Secret Investigation Panel, which has been closely monitoring various blogs and bloggers since 2022, substantial evidence was gathered against Abubakar. The findings of this investigation confirmed her role in propagating the harmful rumors that have negatively impacted the reputation of many within the Nollywood circle.
As a consequence of these revelations, Halima Abubakar has been placed on indefinite suspension. This decision will remain in effect until further disciplinary measures are taken. The Guild has indicated that she will appear before the National Disciplinary Committee to assess the situation and determine the appropriate course of punishment. During this suspension, she is strictly prohibited from participating in any activities related to AGN or filming projects.
The official statement from the AGN reads as follows:
“Following the thorough investigative report by the Special Secret Investigation Panel set up to conduct an underground investigation into the activities of some blogs/bloggers since 2022.
“After two years of the investigations, the Panel found out that Miss Halima Abubakar was behind all the slandering information.”
“Therefore, Halima Abubakar is hereby placed on indefinite suspension. She will face the National Disciplinary Committee to determine full punishment. And she’s not permitted to participate in any AGN and filming activities.”
“However, some female members on the watch-list are being investigated by the secret panel, especially in the release of names purported to have had dealings with the Senate President.”
