The South African owned company, Multichoice has spent a whooping sum of N3.5 billion ($10 million) in the production of the Big Brother Naija Season 5 reality show.
John Ugbe, the Managing Director of Multichoice Nigeria (which runs DSTV) made this revelation at the ongoing Multichoice Showcase 2020 holding virtually via Zoom.
“BBNaija production gulps N3.5 billion. We won’t stop investing in putting smiles on the faces of our customers, even in the toughest times,” He said
The multichoice CEO added that they have played a major role in the entertainment industry in Nigeria.
“We’ve been at the forefront of exporting Nigeria’s entertainment. The Multichoice talent factory is a testament to that investment.
“The Multichoice talent factory students not only obtain relevant skills but also benefit access to mentors who provide life, social and entrepreneurial support to them; offering a holistic and well-rounded education,” he says.
This year’s season premiered on Sunday, July 19, 2020, with 20 housemates and has made a major wave on social media, both nationally and internationally.
The show will climax on Sunday, September 27, with the ultimate winner going home with prizes worth 85 million nairas.
